Core Beliefs

HIV-affected family members are essential participants in the HIV/AIDS discussion. At the heart of FCAN, we believe that the input of family members affected by HIV is an invaluable and crucial part of developing programs and policies for HIV-affected families. We include the input of consumers in all of our programming and policy development.

HIV doesn’t just affect family members who are infected.

There is still much work to be done. Despite advances made in fighting HIV/AIDS, HIV-affected families remain underserved. Many lack access to care and prevention services, information about HIV, information and access public benefits for families with disabilities, and other services. Many parents are concerned with planning for their children if they should become too disabled to care for them, or if they should die.
